Worship

Sunday Worship Services

Join us every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in our classic New England sanctuary for worship services. Our services engage the mind, body and spirit with beautiful music, spiritual themes, stories for all ages, and time for contemplation and prayer. Children begin in the sanctuary with their families and then are excused for faith development programs which run concurrently. Nursery care is available for the youngest, and babies and children are always welcome to remain in the service with their caregivers.

You can also join us live online, or view any of our past services on our YouTube channel.

The Path of Creativity

Creativity is more than just daydreaming and imagination - those are the easy parts. Bringing our dreams into reality is the far more challenging aspect of creativity, and it's often so scary that we tend to avoid it. There is joy, beauty and play in creativity, but there is also insecurity, loneliness and self-doubt. The path of creativity is a risk, requiring courage and daring. And because it’s a risk, it’s better when we have companions on the journey. “There are no creators without companions,” Soul Matters tells us, “The secret to creative self-expression is staying connected to each other.”
Service Music: We are delighted to be welcoming members of the UUSGU choir to join us today, together with their director Lisa Utzig! We will be performing Lisa's arrangement of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" that the UUSGU choir premiered earlier this year, as well as singing "Shine On Me" by Rollo Dilworth and "Draw the Circle Wide" by Mark A. Miller. Lisa will also be playing works by Chopin and Oscar Peterson.

There are Mothers for Everything: Mothers Day and Flower Communion

Some of us were lucky enough to have loving, attentive mothers, but not everyone’s mother was up to the task; some of us have enjoyed being mothers ourselves, others struggled to become mothers, or chose not to mother. Some fathers or grandparents take the role of "mother." It is complicated. Today we acknowledge that there are mothers for everything, all kinds of mothers, many ways to mother, and we honor all those experiences. Flower Communion: This Sunday, we will be celebrating the longstanding UU ritual/blessing of giving and receiving flowers. If you can, please bring flowers from your yard, pick wildflowers, or buy some. We will also provide some flowers in the sanctuary.
