June 29, 2008

Worship Leader:
David Blodgett

Theme: “Resurrection”
We will ponder the notion of resurrection. Particularly the story of Jesus, the resurrection of the body, and the Christian hope of a world transformed.

July 6, 2008

Worship Leader:
Leone Scanlon

Theme: “Poetry”
Poetry is of deep importance to many of us.  This service will feature Leone reading her own work. People are encouraged to bring their own poetry – or poems that are important to them – to share.

July 13, 2008

Worship Leader:
Scott Hayman

Theme: "Housing for All and Housing for Some: A Series of Questions”
What – other than food – could be more essential than a home to live in? Yet many lack this basic part of a healthy and happy life. We will consider several questions around the issues of housing in America today.

July 20, 2008

Worship Leaders:
Environment Committee

Theme: “Food For Thought”
The food we eat nourishes us in many ways. In addition to sustaining our physical health, in our church community we share and get to know each other with food, at coffee hour, at circle dinners, on Monday nights, with communion. This service will pay attention to the food we eat.

July 27, 2008

Worship Leader:
Jay Lavelle

Theme: “I Saw Her Twice: ‘Vertigo’ and the Lure of the Past”
On its fiftieth anniversary, we consider one of America’s greatest movies – Alfred Hitchcock’s “Vertigo” – and one of its many themes: the seductive and destructive attraction of the past. (“Vertigo” will be shown at Monday Night at the Church on July 21.)

August 3, 2000

Worship Leader:
Lisa Siciliano

Theme: “Animal Heartsongs”
This Sunday’s service is going to the dogs (and cats, and rabbits, and…)! Please join us to honor the spiritual bond that is forged between animals and their humans, and their songs that become indelibly etched on our hearts. Your leashed and vaccinated pets will be enthusiastically welcomed at the service!

August 10, 2008

Worship Leader:
Jeff Bailey

Theme: “The New Religion”
Many people come to Unitarian Universalism from other faith paths looking for something new. Unitarian Universalism itself continues to evolve. Millions of people are heralding the coming of a New Age of Spirituality. So, is there a new religion coming? Is the “new” religion already here?

August 17, 2008

Worship Leaders:
Suzanne Westbrooke, Ellen Thompson, Dr. Peter Levine

Theme: “Healthcare: What We Love Most and Our Greatest Worries”
In spite of many dysfunctions in America’s health care system, a Harvard primary care physician, a local expert in complementary medicine, and a medical sub-specialist will briefly present our experiences, in which hope and optimism can be found.

August 24, 2008

Worship Leader:
Ken Waugh

Theme: “Harvest”
Our summer services end with our traditional celebration of harvest, sharing, and community.

IN-GATHERING SUNDAY

We bid you welcome
who come with weary spirits seeking rest,
Who come with troubles that are too much with you.
Who come hurt and afraid.

We bid you welcome,
who come with hope in your heart,
Who come with anticipation in your step,
Who come proud and joyous.

We bid you welcome,
who are seekers of a new faith,
Who come to probe and explore,
who come to learn.

We bid you welcome,
who enter this hall as a homecoming,
Who have found here room for your spirit,
who find in this people a family.

Whoever you are,
whatever you are,
wherever you are on your journey,
We bid you welcome.
